I had a chance to do a stylized session with our 2017 Senior Model from Independence High School, Anna! When I found out that we had access to outfits from Blush Boutique in Cool Springs, I was freaking out with excitement!
My wonderful Hair & Makeup Artist (HMUA), Brenlynn and I met at Blush and picked out 3 complete outfits… One was a cool Boho look, next was a colorful dress and matching hat and the third was a super cute gold dress with matching heels. Blush constantly is restocking their racks with fresh, new and popular styles and was like Disneyland to us!:) You can’t imagine the excitement of getting to style you own shoot and dream of how it is going to come together!
Anna is an amazing person! She plays Volleyball and is active in her church. She came into the day a bit nervous (as almost 100% of Seniors are!) and eased into the Hair and Makeup chair. This is one of my favorite times of our sessions- as the Senior gets to casually hang out with myself and Brenlynn and get to know us. We laugh and joke around a LOT during makeup and the Senior always senses how much fun is in store. My favorite moment of these prep sessions is the moment a girl will first see herself with the complete false eyelashes and airbrushed makeup applied. There’s always this wide-eyed smile at how great they look and feel! Rockstar for a day! That’s what our Ultimate Senior Portrait Celebration is all about!
Our first stop was at Harlinsdale Farms in Franklin…
The first thing that I noticed was the green color in the barn. It complimented the green boho styled hat we had. We did a few different looks at that location and the Winter setting sun was providing a perfectly lighted backdrop!
We headed over to The Factory in Franklin to attack our next phase of creation! The moss covered bricks and exposed metal was a perfect backdrop for the bright colored dress that Anna wore! I loved the way that her deep blue hat complimented the dress! I encouraged her to take on the mindset of a “damsel in distress” and she NAILED IT! By this time in the session, Anna was LOVING it! She had caught the fever that every Senior catches, as their shoot progresses. It’s about fun… collaboration… creativity and spontaneous events that make it one of a kind! We had no idea what was about to transpire. But, it was about to get crazy!
Our final stop was Downtown Franklin, which was decorated for Christmas and the Holiday season! We did our final outfit change and put Anna’s hair up, while adding dark earrings and a gold bracelet. All of a sudden, I turned around and BOOM… the sunset was STUNNING! I yelled over to the girls that we needed to shoot ASAP! I got out our lights as we needed to light Anna and let the sunset do it’s thing. The result was one of the coolest images of the year! The Franklin Christmas Tree with the blurred lights of traffic down Main Street in the background and a bright orange fiery sunset behind her. That HAD to be the highlight of the shoot… right? I mean… RIGHT??? Nope.
Anna was still fired up to keep shooting, so we headed down Main Street to create some magic at the Franklin Theatre. We never got there. As we were passing the ECCO Salon, the wonderful owner Lisa asked us if we wanted to come in and shoot on their couch. What??? Duh, of course we want to come in and shoot on your insanely cool couch in your off the hook salon! LOL. Anyway- picture me shooting from Main Street as people walked by and stared. I was shooting through the storefront window and Anna was posed amazingly on their gold and leather couch- with the giant ECCO sign behind her! When we finished a few images, the night got even better…
Lisa told us about an upstairs lounge that we could shoot in, if we wanted to! LET’S GO!! We ran upstairs and our mouths dropped open when we saw the room… gothic couches, mirrors and super creative walls adorned the place! Main Street kind of sparkled below us. We did our final looks all around this place and hoped that we could visit again.
All in all, it was a super fun and exciting day and we look forward to having Anna on our team this year! I have too many amazing images to count and we will continue to release them, throughout the year!
Until next time… see you soon! -JB
