I am falling in love, with the city of Carpenteria…

The sleepy beach town is filled with family-owned restaurants and shops and has a character that is second to none!  I happen to adore its Mexican food:)  At the end of the city’s main street, is Carpenteria State Beach.  It has cool camping and a friendly little beach area, which is perfect for watching the evening’s sunset.

Reality Carpenteria also makes its home, in the city.  Right now, I am part of a 10-month internship, there.  It is an amazing experience.

My wife and I had dinner, in Carp.  We had to hurry, to catch the sunset- and ended up being too late for it…  or, so we thought.  The light shifted a bit, after the sun disappeared, over the horizon.  I found this singular, fenced-in, tree and thought it was the perfect setting  to create an image.

Later on, in the evening, we drove down to the Ventura Harbor- to watch their Festival of Lights… dozens of boats were decorated in lights and Christmas themes and drifted past us.  It was an amazing night- but, the image I kept returning to was this one!

“My name is JB Brookman. I’m a rock star concert photographer who grew up shooting the biggest stars in the world. The stages and venues of Hollywood and LA used to be my home, but now I have made a home in the suburbs of Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee. Shooting Taylor Swift, U2, Elton John and Ed Sheeran is great, but my true passion is creating highly stylized, authentic and modern portraits of High School Seniors, making them feel like they are at the center of the stage.”
